About

The Educational Technology Specialist provides training and support for district-wide instructional technology initiatives. Such initiatives include benchmark assessments, educator resource guides, and technology integration techniques. Our goal is to provide teacher training that guides instruction by developing, implementing and sustaining programs and practices to maximize learning. Courses and training are provided to help teachers progress along a continuum of technology expertise and to help meet the National Educational Technology Standards for Teachers (NETS*T), National Educational Technology Standards for Students (NETS*S), and National Educational Technology Standards for Administrators (NETS*A).

What is an Educational Technology Learning Community?

An Educational Technology-focused Professional Learning Community (eTPLC) is a group of people who are dedicated to learning together in a safe environment that encourages dialogue, feedback, reflection and empowerment. When teachers are actively engaged in the discussion, planning, and execution of new programs and policies, educational experiences for our students will be heightened.

How Can I Be Involved?

To build collegiality and to seek to fulfill a unified purpose (technology integration), members of a Professional Learning Community must be willing to share their ideas, expertise and resources. One way to help create an eTechnology Learning Community (eTPLC) within our system is to become involved by submitting useful links, tutorials, etc. for possible inclusion on this web site. You are also encouraged to share your ideas for upcoming technology training. You might also consider sharing your expertise by facilitating teacher training sessions. Feel free to email linda.oliver@sumnerschools.org to share your ideas. By working together, we can create a dynamic Educational Technology Learning Community that will enhance the educational experiences for our students.
